Pakistan: American arrested after bullets found in luggage

Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- Police arrested a 70-year-old U.S. citizen with bullets in his luggage at the airport in Lahore, Pakistan on Thursday, a police official told CNN.

Airport security personnel found about 30 bullets inside one of Gary Williams' bags during a routine search, said Samar Abbas, a Lahore police official.

Williams teaches at a missionary school in eastern Pakistan and was scheduled to travel from Lahore to Dubai on a Pakistani International Airlines flight, Abbas said.

Williams is free on bail, Abbas said.

A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad said he is aware of the reports and said the U.S. consulate in Lahore is working to confirm the man's identity and U.S. citizenship.
