Report: Floods in northern India leave 19 dead

(CNN) -- Torrential rains triggered mudslides in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, killing at least 19 people and trapping another 14, the official Press Trust of India reported Saturday.

Six people were killed and 14 were trapped under rubble when landslides washed through villages in the Almora district, PTI reported.

It said eight people were killed in landslides in the Nainital district, which prompted authorities to order some area evacuations.

Five members of one family, including four children, were killed when their house collapsed in the Haridwar district, PTI reported.
