(CNN) -- At least 22 people were killed when a passenger bus plunged into a river in central India, police said Thursday.
Twenty-five others were injured and taken to a local hospital. Police are still searching for three missing passengers.
The accident Wednesday occurred in Madhya Pradesh state.
It was caused by a "drunk" bus driver, said S.P. Singh, a local police superintendent.
India has the highest annual road death toll in the world, according to the World Health Organization.
