Dismissed police inspector takes tourist bus hostage in Philippines

Manila, Philippines (CNN) -- A dismissed police inspector took a tourist bus hostage in Manila, Philippines, Monday morning, police told CNN.

There were 22 foreigners on the bus, Manila District Police official Rodolfo Magtibay said.

The dismissed inspector has written a demand on a board and is displaying it in the bus windshield, Magtibay said. Police have cordoned off the area around the bus as they try to negotiate.
