Bangkok, Thailand (CNN) -- A Thai government helicopter crashed in the country's mountainous north killing all five people on board, officials said Wednesday.

The chopper, belonging to the country's Natural Resources and Environment Ministry, went missing Tuesday during heavy rainstorms, said Police Lt. Col. Aree Gunsueb.

Rescue crews tracked it using the signal from the mobile phone of one of the helicopter's occupants, police said. It was found in a remote jungle in the Nan province.

Among the occupants was the permanent secretary for ministry, the Thai News Agency said.
