Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- Two U.S. drone strikes killed eight suspected militants in Pakistan's tribal region Sunday, officials told CNN.
Two Pakistani intelligence officials said the first drone fired at least four missiles at the militants early Sunday who were traveling inside a vehicle in Shaktai Algat, a village in South Waziristan. All four in the vehicle were killed.
South Waziristan is in Pakistan's mostly ungoverned tribal region along the Afghan border.
Five people inside a nearby house were injured, the officials said.
A second U.S. drone fired two missiles Sunday night at a suspected militant compound in Tabi, a village near Miranshah, the largest town in North Waziristan, killing four other militants, officials said.
It is the second day in a row U.S. drone strikes have attacked suspected militants in the tribal region.
Based on a count by the CNN Islamabad bureau, there have been 43 U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan's tribal region this year.
The intelligence officials asked not to be named because they are not authorized to speak to the media on the record.
