Suspected U.S. missiles kill seven in Pakistan, officials say

By the CNN Wire Staff

Islamabad, Pakistan(CNN) -- A suspected U.S. drone fired missiles at a militant hideout in Pakistan on Tuesday, killing seven, officials said.

The two missiles injured several others when it struck Lamal village in South Waziristan, a local administration official and an intelligence official said. They asked not to be identified because they are not authorized to talk to the media.

South Waziristan is one of seven districts bordering the Afghanistan tribal region.

The U.S. military routinely offers no comment on reported drone attacks.

However, it is the only country operating in the region known to have the ability to remotely launch missiles from drones.
