(CNN) -- Two people were injured when a small Indonesian military plane crashed during a landing at an airport in Bali on Thursday, airport authorities said.
"The landing gear exploded as it touches the ground," Rachmad Budianto, the commanding air force officer on board, said in a local television interview.
"Thank God. I survived, the pilot and I ejected just in time."
The plane -- which caught fire when it touched down -- was part of a "joy ride" program where the air force gives free airplane rides to civilians.
