A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The quake struck at 6:54 a.m. (7:54 a.m. ET) and was centered about 140 kilometers (85 miles) east of Ambato and 145 kilometers (90 miles) east-northeast of Riobamba in the central part of the country.
The epicenter of the temblor was about 189.9 kilometers (118 miles) below the Earth's surface, the USGS said.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
