Mexico City, Mexico (CNN) -- The Consulate General in Ciudad Juarez has closed to "review its security posture," the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City said Thursday in a statement.
The facility, on the border with Texas, will be closed Friday and will remain closed until the security review is completed, the embassy said.
No reason for the security review was cited.
Juarez has seen a spike in violence since shortly after President Felipe Calderon assumed office nearly four years ago and declared an anti-drug initiative.
