(CNN) -- One person was taken to a hospital after part of a parking deck collapsed Thursday in Windsor, Ontario, police officials told CNN.

A crane was being operated on the parking deck's ground level, which had another level below it, when the structure underneath gave way, said Sgt. Joe Baldwin of the Windsor Police Department. The operator was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, he said.

The crane "was too heavy for where it was," Baldwin said.

In aerial video from CNN Detroit affiliate WDIV, the middle deck appears to have caved in, damaging several cars and trucks parked there.

An inspector is on the scene coordinating the cleanup, police said. Heavy equipment is being brought in to move the crane and an investigation is pending.
