19 dead in Nigerian building collapse

Lagos, Nigeria (CNN) -- A three-story building collapsed in Nigeria's capital, killing 19 people, a police spokesman said Thursday.

The building collapsed around 5 a.m. Wednesday (12 a.m. ET) in the Garki area of Abuja, according to deputy police spokesman Yemi Ajayi.

He said 12 people were rescued.
