(CNN) -- Somali pirates have released a Turkish cargo ship that they had held since March 23, the European Naval Force in Somalia said Thursday.
The Maltese-flagged MV Friga, which has a crew of 21 sailors from Turkey and Ukraine, was hijacked approximately 1000 nautical miles east of the northern Somalia coastline.
Nilgun Yamaner, a lawyer representing the ships owners, told CNN-Turk that the ship was released after negotiations, but did not say if a ransom had been paid.
She said that all of the crew were in good health, and that the ship would take more than a week to return to Turkey.
