(CNN) -- Five people -- four females and an infant boy -- were killed Monday in a fire in southern Ohio, said Shane Cartmill, a spokesman for the Ohio state fire marshal.

Seven others were injured in the blaze, Cartmill said.

The fire started in the breezeway at the center of the single-family structure in Lawrence County, but investigators have not found the exact cause, Cartmill said.

Officials said 12 people were in the home when the fire started, but they are not sure if they were all members of one family or if multiple families resided there.
