(CNN) -- A water taxi slammed into a pier Sunday in Seattle, Washington, injuring at least five people, authorities said.
Rescue workers responded to the accident that happened shortly before noon, the U.S. Coast Guard said in a statement. Some 78 people were on board the water taxi that hit Pier 50, it said.
One person fell into the water and was immediately rescued, the Coast Guard said, adding that approximately five people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
"We seen people fly forward and actually hit their heads into the glass -- blood everywhere," Leanna Hernandez, who was in the taxi, told CNN affiliate KOMO. "It was really scary."
Authorities said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
