Man struck by subway in Washington

Washington (CNN) -- A Washington man who was stuck by a subway train died in the hospital, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority said.

The 28-year-old man, whose name was not released, was hit at about 2:55 a.m. Sunday at the Minnesota Avenue Metrorail station.

There was minimal impact to rail service, but buses were made available to shuttle customers around the station where the man was struck. The station reopened later Sunday morning.

The Metro Transit Police Department was investigating the incident.
