New York (CNN) -- Authorities arrested the operator of a 30-foot pleasure boat Friday in connection with a crash in New York Harbor that killed one man Friday evening.
The 39-year-old man was driving the boat when it collided with a 20-foot power boat near the Statue of Liberty around 6 p.m. Friday, New York Police said. Charges against him were pending Friday night.
Police said the victim, a 30-year-old man, was pronounced dead on arrival at Jersey City Hospital.
Two passengers on the victim's boat were transported to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.
The man arrested and four passengers on the boat he was operating were not injured.
Coast Guard spokesman Charles Rowe said sobriety tests were administered to passengers, but the results were not immediately available.
