Obama to meet with BP chairman at White House

From Dan Lothian, CNN White House Correspondent

Washington (CNN) -- President Barack Obama will meet Wednesday with BP Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg at the White House, a senior White House official told CNN Thursday.

In a letter, National Incident Commander Admiral Thad Allen summoned Svanberg and "any appropriate officials from BP" to meet with the president and other administration officials.

The letter doesn't mention BP CEO Tony Hayward, but the administration official said "the letter asks the chairman to bring any appropriate officials to the meeting and we assume that includes the CEO."

Hayward is scheduled to testify before Congress the following day.
