Washington (CNN) -- The State Department on Tuesday issued a travel warning for Russia because of wildfires and hot weather in the Moscow region and surrounding areas.

Because of hazardous levels of air pollution and numerous flight delays and cancellations, the department urged U.S. citizens to postpone travel to the country.

It also authorized non-critical workers at the U.S. Embassy in Russia as well as dependents of embassy personnel to leave the area at the U.S. government's expense.
