Glitch forces JetBlue to ground some flights

  • Planes already in flight were not affected, airline spokeswoman says
  • Technical glitch grounds some JetBlue flights
  • Winter storm in Northeast already reduces schedule

(CNN) -- A centralized technical glitch forced JetBlue Airways to ground several flights Friday afternoon, an airline spokeswoman said.

It wasn't immediately clear how many flights were affected, but JetBlue spokeswoman Alison Croyle said there was a voluntary ground stop of all flights that hadn't yet taken off.

Flights already in the air were not affected, she added.

JetBlue planned to resume flights at 3:45 p.m. ET. It was not immediately clear if it had done so.

The airline already was running fewer flights Friday due to the major snowstorm blanketing parts of the Northeast.
