The Spaniard took a tight opening set on a tie break but lost the second set after Istomin broke early on. Nadal also called for the trainer for treatment.
Nadal was up a break at 5-3 and serving for the match but but Istomin managed to break back. Nadal returned the favour though, winning the next game to seal victory.
