(CNN) -- Palermo secured their first win of the Serie A season with a shock 3-1 defeat of Juventus in the Stadio Olimpico in Turin.

The "Old Lady" were looking to build on a 4-0 away win at Udinese on Sunday, but any thoughts of a repeat were stopped in their tracks by the Sicilian side.

It leaves them 16th in the Italian standings after four games, six points behind leaders Inter Milan and only two points above the drop zone.

Palermo are in 17th.

They have now won four straight against Juve after completing the double over them last season and made a dream start with Javier Pastore putting them ahead after only two minutes.

Alessandro Del Piero rattled the Palermo crossbar before halftime but on the hour mark Juve fell two behind when Josip Ilicic doubled the visitors' advantage.

Five minutes from time there was no way back for the home side as Palmero defender Cesare Bovo scored from long range.

Substitute Vincenzo Iaquinta scored a late consolation for the well-beaten home side.

In Spain's La Liga, Villarreal continued their fine start to the season with a 1-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna.

Brazilian striker Nilmar, the club's record signing, scored his fourth goal in four games as they moved above champions Barcelona into third place after four games.

Villarreal lost their opening match but have since reeled off three straight wins.

In other action Thursday, Malaga beat Getafe 2-0 as both side's ended with 10 men.
