(CNN) -- Lewis Hamilton is the new leader of the Formula One drivers' championship after his victory in the Canadian Grand Prix.

Hamilton leapfrogs his team-mate Jenson Button and Red Bull's Mark Webber, who drops from first to third.

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull are close behind in one of the tightest championships in years.

McLaren increased their lead in the constructors' championship to 22 points over Red Bull.
