(CNN) -- Formula One world champion Jenson Button has told CNN that he believes the new 2010 season will be an "epic campaign".
Speaking to CNN World Sport's Pedro Pinto, after winning a Laureus award on Wednesday, Button admitted he was excited about the season ahead.
"I really think it will be an epic season. You've got Michael Schumacher coming back in a competitive team. There are three other world champions and four top teams fighting it out on the grid," said Button.
"For me, it is going to be one of the best seasons we have ever seen in Formula One. I starts this weekend in Bahrain and hopefully people will be glued to their TV's because it is going to be a special, special season."
Button won his world championship while driving for the Brawn GP team, but has since switched to McLaren to form an all-British partnership with 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Although the pair will be fighting tooth-and-nail to win the world title this year, Button has revealed they have also become friends as well as colleagues and rivals.
"The partnership is working very well. Lewis and I spend a lot of time together. McLaren have a lot of sponsors and we have been doing a lot of sponsor days together.
"We have been doing a lot with the new car together but also as individuals. The relationship is good, but it always is before the racing starts!.
"I hope it stays good between us, but you never know in F1. We are rivals but we have to work together to make sure we are rivals at the front, not half way down the pack.
