(CNN) -- Al Jarreau underwent a medical procedure to correct a heart arrhythmia that interrupted his European concert tour last week, his spokesman said Wednesday.
Doctors performed a catheter ablation on the 70-year-old singer at a cardiac center in Marseille, France, Monday, according to a statement from Joe Gordon.
"The procedure went just as the doctors hoped and expected," Gordon said. "He moved out of the intensive care unit later that day."
Jarreau was hospitalized on July 22 after becoming "weak from the altitude" in the French Alps, the spokesman explained.
The singer is preparing to resume his tour in Hanau, Germany, next Tuesday, Gordon said.
"He has been working hard to recover and prepare himself for his return to work," he added.
