'Punky Brewster' star sells memoir

By the CNN Wire Staff

New York (CNN) -- Former child star Soleil Moon Frye, who starred in the popular 1980s sitcom "Punky Brewster," has sold her first book to Dutton, an imprint of Penguin Group.

Tentatively slated for publication next summer, "Happy Chaos" is described as a "memoir/manual," chronicling stories from Frye's unconventional childhood as a TV actress. She said the book will also include thematically-linked anecdotes from her experience as a parent of two young daughters.

"I'm nostalgic and love talking about my childhood and family so what better platform to share with others than a book close to my heart," Frye, 33, told CNN.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Frye -- an actress, director and eco-friendly clothing designer -- has more than 1.4 million followers on Twitter. She's married to television and film producer Jason Goldberg, the production partner of Ashton Kutcher.
