(CNN) -- Kate Gosselin's life includes raising eight young children, battling their father for custody, competing on "Dancing with the Stars" and being stalked by paparazzi.
She soon will add a television reality show to the mix this year, the TLC network announced Thursday.
With TLC's hit series "Jon & Kate Plus 8" a casualty of the Gosselins' divorce, the network is adding "Twist of Kate" to its lineup of original series.
"In this new series, Kate Gosselin travels around the country to find out how other people juggle work, family and all the other challenges life throws at them," TLC said in its announcement.
Jon Gosselin cited her own juggling and traveling in a Pennsylvania court filing this week challenging her for primary custody of the children.
His lawyer told CNN on Monday that the Gosselin children are suffering because Kate Gosselin "focused her entire attention on creating a name for herself in the showbiz."
"In reality, when you look at whether or not she's spending time with them, she's not doing the job," attorney Anthony List said. "She doesn't have anywhere near the balance that she could have, because she's looking for instant stardom."
Kate Gosselin is a competitor this season on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," which requires her to travel to Los Angeles each week.
She performed a dance this week to Lady Gaga's hit "Paparazzi," which she said expressed her frustration with constantly being followed by celebrity photographers.
Despite low scores from the show's judges, she has stayed in the running after the first two eliminations.
The new show on TLC will have Gosselin "walking a mile in someone else's shoes -- meeting real families in the middle of their own extraordinary challenges," TLC said. "She'll try out their jobs, see how their home life runs, see what they're up against and find out what they do to let off steam."
During each episode, "she'll roll up her sleeves and see what she can do to help."
The Gosselin children will return to TV with "limited specials following the lively brood on some fun adventures," the network said.
Jon Gosselin has been in a legal battle with TLC since last summer, when he insisted the network no longer include the children in "Jon & Kate Plus 8."
