(CNN) -- Texas authorities canceled an Amber Alert for a year-old boy believed abducted by his father after the man contacted the child's mother, according to CNN affiliate KPRC.

James Michael Green III was last seen in Humble, Texas, at 11 a.m. Sunday, according to the alert. His father, 31-year-old James Michael Green II, had the child when he dropped his wife off at work at a restaurant. When he failed to return at 5 p.m. Sunday, she called his cell phone, and it was answered by a stranger, authorities said.

Green called his wife from a pay phone Monday morning, KPRC reported, citing investigators. The child was reunited with his mother, and his father was taken to the Humble Police Department for questioning.

"I think he's having some personal problems," Lt. Jay Wrobliske told KPRC. "He was driving around, thinking things out last night, sold his cell phone for some gas money."

Authorities say no charges will be filed, KPRC said.
