(CNN) -- At least 11 people were killed and as many as seven others were wounded in a shooting by gunmen who opened fire on a house party in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, late Friday, authorities said Saturday.
The victims were between 15 and 25 years old, said Carlos Gonzalez, a spokesman with the Chihuahua State Attorney General's Office.
"Two vehicles showed up and started shooting" at about 11:30 p.m. (1:30 a.m. ET Saturday), he said. "They used heavy weapons to do the killing."
In a similar shooting in January, cartel gunmen stormed into another Juarez house party, killing 15 people. Most of the victims were youths who had no ties to organized crime.
Investigators said that shooting was a case of mistaken identity caused by bad intelligence.
