(CNN) -- A Colorado father was arrested for allegedly smoking marijuana with his daughters ages 6 and 7, authorities said.

One of the daughters told authorities that her father smokes marijuana in front of her and blows smoke into her face when she doesn't feel well, according to court documents.

The child explained how to smoke marijuana with so much detail that one investigator said that the child had more knowledge about the drug than some adults, court documents said.

The father, identified as Jack Duke, 27, faces charges of marijuana possession, distributing marijuana to a minor and child abuse, authorities said Thursday.

The incident came to light when the 6-year-old girl was caught trying to start a fire in the bathroom of her elementary school. When the young girl was questioned by school administrators, she talked about smoking marijuana with her father. Law enforcement officials were called in to investigate

The girl also drew a pictures of the times when she said she smoked marijuana with her father and remarked that she did not like to smoke the seeds.

"I found it remarkable how well (the 6-year-old) was able to describe the process of smoking marijuana," a Mesa County sheriff's investigator wrote in court documents. "I also know based on my training, marijuana users commonly discard the seeds and stems from the marijuana plant."

Police searched the family's home and found a small marijuana pipe, two larger pipes commonly referred to as "bongs," a digital scale and a small bag of the drug, court documents said.

State family and child services workers were called in and the two daughters along with two other children in the home were put in the custody of their grandparents, according to court documents..
