Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Knives, guns and bottles were drawn during a fight after a party early Saturday east of downtown Los Angeles, California, resulting in one death and 10 injuries, police said.

No one is in custody, said Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Cleon Joseph. The incident was not believed to be gang-related.

Partygoers were leaving a birthday celebration around 2:10 a.m. (5:10 a.m. ET) at a house in the Boyle Heights neighborhood, Joseph said.

According to a police statement, "some of the partygoers assembled in groups and a dispute ensued."

Eight people were shot, one fatally, and three were stabbed. Two people were transported to the hospital and other victims went to seek medical care before police arrived.

Police identified the dead man as Steven Lopez, 22. He was shot twice.

Police earlier Saturday said that 12 people had been shot.
