(CNN) -- At least four people were injured and several suspected motorcycle gang members were detained in central Arizona on Saturday after an apparent shootout, according to an official with the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said four or five people were injured, and one was taken to a Phoenix-area hospital. He said he did not know their conditions.

D'Evelyn added that police have detained several suspected motorcycle gang members.

"They're just trying to sort out what happened," he said about detectives on scene.

Aerial images shot by CNN affiliate KTVK showed several white police vehicles stopped along a two-way road. Motorcycles were parked nearby and men dressed in biker clothes were seen standing in small groups. Two men sitting on a fence wore vests with the symbol of the Vagos Motorcycle Club on their backs.

D'Evelyn did not rule out the possibility that the incident could have been sparked by a fight between rival motorcycle gangs, but said it was too early to know for sure.

He added that officials began receiving phone calls about shots being fired early Saturday afternoon in Chino Valley, Arizona -- located in the state's northern center.

CNN's Greg Morrison and Dana Ford contributed to this report.
