In focus -- The settlement price tag

Settlement building continues to cast a shadow over the continuation of direct talks between Israelis and Palestinians. Encompassing 12 million square meters of roads, homes and factories, the settlements cost more than $17 billion to build.

This week MME went to one of them to look at not only the costs, but also the contributions that settlements make to the Israeli economy.

Facetime -- Salam Fayyad, Palestinian Prime Minister

The issue of settlements is so divisive that direct peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority hang in the balance. But is the Palestinian Authority ready to create an independent state?

This week MME sits down with the Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad to discuss the way forward.
