A tropical storm watch was issued Thursday for the North Carolina coast as Tropical Storm Danny slowly approached, the National Hurricane Center said.
The watch was in effect from Cape Lookout, North Carolina, northward to Duck, and includes Pamlico Sound and Albemarle Sound, forecasters said. A tropical storm watch means tropical storm conditions, including winds of at least 39 mph, are possible within 36 hours.
"Interests elsewhere from the Carolinas northward to New England and the Canadian maritimes should monitor the progress of Danny," the hurricane center said. "Additional watches and warnings may be required for portions of this area later tonight and Friday." Read full article »
