BEIRUT, Lebanon (CNN) -- Gunmen ambushed a Lebanese Army vehicle Monday morning, killing four soldiers and wounding another, the military said.

In a statement to CNN, the Lebanese Army said the attack took place at 11 a.m. (4 a.m. ET) in the town of Temnin, in the Bekaa valley.

"The Lebanese Army has started a search looking for the perpetrators and asks the residents in the area to cooperate with the military authorities and not to give refuge to these criminals," the statement said.
