NEW DELHI, India (CNN) -- At least 10 people were killed and 49 injured in blasts at two explosives-making factories in central India, authorities said Monday.

The explosions occurred almost simultaneously in two of the more than 20 units located on a small plot in Madhya Pradesh state's Singrauli district, district magistrate P. Narhari told CNN.

More than 60 people were working in a dozen factories that were open at the time of the blasts, at 7 p.m. local time Sunday, he said.

Forensic experts were investigating the cause.
