Factory blast in China kills at least 16

(CNN) -- A factory explosion in eastern China early Sunday killed at least 16 people and injured 43, state-run media reported.

Most of the fatalities in the Anhui province blast were employees and the injured were local residents, according to state-run Xinhua.

The factory, Jingxin Mining Co., produces quartz sand, Xinhua said.

The company is privately-owned and has about 100 employees, according to Xinhua.
