(CNN) -- A moderate earthquake was measured off the coast of Mexico's western Baja California peninsula early Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The quake's epicenter was in the Gulf of California off the southern coast of the peninsula about 103 miles (166 kilometers) east-southeast of La Paz, the state capital of Baja California Sur, according to USGS.
The temblor struck around 4 a.m. local time (6 a.m. ET), it said.
