(CNN) -- A helicopter crash at an Army airfield in Hawaii killed two soldiers Wednesday, military officials said.

The two soldiers, who were not immediately identified, were on a routine maintenance flight on the Kiowa Warrior helicopter and were the only ones aboard, said officials at U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii.

The cause of the crash, which occurred at 3:30 p.m. (9:30 p.m. ET), is under investigation.
