(CNN) -- Brazilian forward Maicosuel scored the only goal to give Hoffenheim a 1-0 win over Freiburg on Sunday, a result that lifts them up to fifth in the Bundesliga -- knocking Bayern Munich down to sixth.
Strike partner Vedad Ibisevic set up the goal when he played Maicosuel into the penalty area and the South American lobbed his shot out over goalkeeper Simon Pouplin in the 39th minute.
The result drops Freiburg down to 13th in the table while on Saturday, Bayer Leverkusen went back to the top of the Bundesliga despite comeback kings Schalke forcing a late equalizer for the second match running to seal a 2-2 draw.
Werder Bremen are second after attacking midfielder Aaron Hunt hit two second-half goals to help his side come from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw at Nuremberg.
Hamburg were robbed of the chance of going top for the second consecutive match after mid-table Borussia Moenchengladbach poached a shock 3-2 away victory, with Canadian striker Rob Friend hitting an 82nd-minute winner.
Meanwhile, in Sunday's late game, Eintracht Frankfurt defeated second-bottom Bochum 2-1 to move up to ninth after Maik Franz made amends for a 25th-minute own goal by scoring the winner in the 53rd minute.
