(CNN) -- Real Madrid were jeered off by unhappy fans at the Bernabeu on Sunday night after their final Primera Liga home match of the season ended in a disappointing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Mallorca.

Cannavaro waves goodbye to the Bernabeu as Real Madrid ended their home season with a 3-1 defeat.
Real went into the match assured of second place in the table and, with Juventus-bound Fabio Cannavaro and, in all probability, coach Juande Ramos saying their goodbyes, they appeared to lack focus in a disjointed performance.
Despite this, the home side made the breakthrough when Gonzalo Higuain headed home after 20 minutes but Juan Arango equalized minutes later for Mallorca.
Cannavaro left the pitch to applause from the home fans 10 minutes into the second half but, following his substitution, Real struggled to deal with the Mallorca attack.
Cleber Santana scored a superb goal, beating four players before clipping the ball into the top corner in the 59th minute -- and then the victory was confirmed with another fine strike by Alhassane Keita 19 minutes from time.
