(CNN) -- Chelsea will give late fitness tests to top scorer Nicolas Anelka and midfielder Deco ahead of Tuesday's Champions League last-16 second-leg clash with Juventus in Turin.
Top scorer Anelka is doubtful for Tuesday's vital Champions League clash in Turin.
French striker Anelka has a bruised toe while Portuguese playmaker Deco is struggling with a hamstring tear.
Deco's compatriot Ricardo Carvalho is still not fully recovered from his hamstring problem and is unlikely to start in the visitors' defense.
However, midfielder Michael Essien is expected to start after coming on as a substitute at the weekend following six month's out with knee ligament damage.
Chelsea are without Joe Cole and Paulo Ferreira for the rest of the season, both are suffering from knee injuries. The Premier League club are 1-0 ahead from the first leg at Stamford Bridge.
Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri has a problem in midfield where recent broken foot victim Mohamed Sissoko will be a major miss.
Mauro Camoranesi and Marco Marchionni are both out as well, leaving a space on the right wing, where Hasan Salihamidzic is expected to figure.
Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is unlikely to risk star striker Fernando Torres for their return leg against Real Madrid at Anfield on Tuesday.
Torres injured his ankle in the 1-0 victory at the Bernabeu last month and has only been back in light training for two days.
First leg goalscorer Yossi Benayoun is also likely to miss out with a hamstring injury while Spanish defender Alvaro Arbeloa faces a fitness test, also on a hamstring problem.
