American Petrovic, 43, last won on the PGA Tour back in 2005 when he took the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Fellow-American Olson, 28, has yet to win on the PGA Tour but turned in seven birdies and a single bogey in a round of 66.

Australian John Senden was tied in third with American pair Matt Kuchar and Vaughn Taylor after first rounds of 67.

Englishman Justin Rose was in a group of 11 players tied for 13th after a first round 69 -- alongside fellow-Europeans Fredrik Jacobson of Sweden and Scot Martin Laird.

Meanwhile, KJ Choi's 70 put him among a huge pack in 24th place.

American Eric Axley endured a dreadful round with a quadruple bogey eight on the 13th hole leaving him dead last on 11-over-par.
