(CNN) -- Jelena Jankovic clinched her second WTA Tour title of the season after beating world number one Dinara Safina in straight sets in the final of the Cincinnati Open on Sunday.
Jelena Jankovic is back up to fourth in the world rankings after her victory in the Cincinnati Open.
Safina ended the run of comeback girl Kim Clijsters in the quarterfinals and also saw off in-form Flavia Pennetta in the last four -- but she had no answer to the Serb, who triumphed 6-4 6-2 to move back up to fourth in the world rankings.
Jankovic needed just one break to claim the first set while she always looked in control in the second -- adding the hard-court championship to her success in a claycourt tournament in Marbella in April.
Jankovic told reporters: "I'm really pleased that I was able to play well and beat the number one player in the world, after also beating Elena Dementieva on Saturday.
"My smile is back and I'm having fun playing my matches again," added Jankovic -- who started the year top of the world rankings but has seen her status slip with a series of lackluster results. "This is what I have missed."
Safina added: "I got quite a few good wins under my felt belt this week. I think I was a little bit off. Basically I would say it was not my day.
"She was using some good shots and hitting very close to the lines and down the lines. She played some great tennis today," continued the Russian.
