(PEOPLE.com) -- Though he sat out a practice on Thursday, Tom Brady was back in action Friday, participating in football practice for the New England Patriots just three days after his wife, Gisele Bündchen, gave birth to their boy.
Brady was MIA for a team event Wednesday morning, as he spent time with his newborn son, and skipped practice Thursday to care for a finger injury suffered during last week's game against the Miami Dolphins.
Still, the quarterback made it clear that even with a new addition to the family, he has no plans to slack off during the last weeks of the season.
"It's just a normal week," Brady, 32, joked in a press conference Wednesday, just hours after Bündchen, 29, had delivered what her sister Patricia called "a beautiful, healthy baby boy."
"I owe it to the guys in the locker room to be focused on what I need to do for this team," Brady said Wednesday, adding that he planned to "put all those emotions [from having a baby] aside."
Though he called becoming a dad for the second time (he has a 2-year-old son, Jack, with ex Bridget Moynahan), "a wonderful experience in my life," Brady insisted work is a priority for him. "The last thing the team needs from me is to be not focused on the job at hand," he said. "It's a very normal week for me in that sense."
"He's focused on the game," added Patriots rep Stacey James. But, of course, he is enjoying time after work with the family, "Tom said everyone is doing great," James said.
