Asked by Molly, Hemet, California
My husband had a kidney transplant a year ago. He's on potent drugs like CellCept and Prograf. Would these drugs be excreted in semen? Can it be harmful to my cervix?

Many drugs are excreted in male ejaculate. Few have been shown to affect the female. I am aware of concerns that finasteride and dutasteride -- used to treat urinary problems due to large prostates -- may affect a pregnant woman's developing fetus. Most other drugs are not really a concern. The dose that the sexual partner would be exposed to is very low.
