DUBLIN, Republic of Ireland (CNN) -- The Republic of Ireland's Minister for European Affairs was briefly held hostage during a robbery at a Marriott hotel south of Dublin, Irish police said.

Dick Roche was unhurt in the holdup.
Dick Roche was among guests and staff at the hotel in County Wicklow when three men, one armed with a sawn-off shotgun, robbed the hotel.
Roche, 61, had a gun held to his back but was otherwise unhurt, his spokesman told the Press Association.
The robbers escaped with an undisclosed sum of money, the Garda, or police, said in a statement. No one was injured and no shots were fired.
"Mr. Roche was returning from a daily swim at the hotel's pool when he was approached from behind and had a gun shoved into his back," the spokesman said.
"He was forced into a room with his driver and other staff members.
"Obviously he is shaken by the incident but is currently helping gardai with their inquiries," added the spokesman.
