KABUL, Afghanistan (CNN) -- A suicide car bomb blast, apparently targeting a military convoy, killed four people and wounded 15 others in Kabul Thursday morning, officials said.

While initial reports said the explosion was near the U.S. Embassy, a police official later placed it about 500 meters (547 yards) away in Mas'ud Circle.

The four people killed were civilians, said Alishah Paktiawal, head of criminal investigation section of Kabul police.
