ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- A suicide bombing killed at least five people in the Mardan district of Pakistan's North West Frontier Province Friday afternoon, local police said.
The attack apparently targeted the local deputy inspector general of police Akhtar Ali Shah, the police said.
Shah survived the attack and gave an interview to a news agency in which he said he thought he was the target.
