ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- Pakistan's military has killed 60 militants in airstrikes on targets in the Swat Valley since Friday morning, a Pakistani army official in the area said Saturday.

Security forces using F-16 fighter jets attacked a militant stronghold that included training camps in the Puchar and Ghaat areas, from where militants are said to be operating.

Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan said at least 16 bombs were dropped during the airstrikes but that no militants or Taliban forces were killed.

Eyewitnesses, however, said militants were among the dead.
